Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the lith day of September , 1989.
The following members were present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmembers Vasiliou,
Ricker Zitur and Sisk
TWe-7ollowing members were absent: None
Councilmember Zitur introduced the following Resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 89-545
DECLARING THE AREA AT THE NORTHEAST QUADRANT OF
COUNTY ROAD 6 AND VICKSBURG LANE AND IMMEDIATELY EAST OF
VICKSBURG LANE NORTHERLY TO 18TH AVENUE NORTH AS NATURAL PRESERVES
WHEREAS, Plymouth City Code Section 810.03, Subdivision 2 provides that areas within
the community may be designated by the City Council as natural preserves; and
WHEREAS, the designation of an area as a natural reserve exempts that area from
enforcement of the City's weed height ordinance; and
WHEREAS, any area declared as a natural preserve must be kept free of noxious weeds as
defined by State Statute; and
WHEREAS, the City Weed Inspector and Superintendent of Parks has reviewed this request
and made an affirmative recommendation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that it should, and hereby does, declare the area at the northeast quadrant
of County Road 6 and Vicksburg Lane surrounding the retention pond, as natural
preserves; and
FURTHER, the area immediately adjacent to Vicksburg Lane on the east from County Road 6
In the south to 18th Avenue North on the north be declared as natural preserves: and
FURTHER, that the blueprints submitted by Prairie Restoration which show the specific
natural preserve areas is yellow highlighted cross hatch be placed on file in the Weed
Inspector's portfolio for future referenance and enforcement purposes and that the
petitioner be advised of the City Council's action; and
FURTHER, the natural preserve areas shall not obstruct intersection sight lines.
The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by
Councilmember Vasiliou , and upon vote being taken thereon, the
following vote n favor thereof: ayor, chnelder, Councilmembers Vasiliou,
Ricker, Zitur and Sisk
The following voted against or abstained: None
Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
