HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2013-327CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION No. 2013-327 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION OF A DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES 2014 LEGACY TRAIL GRANT WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth supports the grant application made to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program. WHEREAS, the application is to constrict approximately two (2) miles of paved trail for the Northwest Greenway Trail System, and WHEREAS, Department of Natural Resources fiinds are designated for projects that support and enhance trails with regional or statewide significance; and WHEREAS, the Northwest Greenway is a regionally significant trail system providing connections to other trails; and WHEREAS, the Northwest Greenway trail will connect people with outdoor space through safe, high-quality trail experiences; and WHEREAS, the Northwest Greenway trail will be in place for no less than 20 years; and WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation is recommending that the City submit an application, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the Director of Parks and Recreation, prepare and submit an application for the Department of Natural Resources Trail Legacy Grant in the amount of $550,000 for the constriction of the northeast trail section of the Greenway, from Cheshire Parkway to Vicksburg. Approved this 8th day of October, 2013.
