HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1992-269CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 92-269 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF OPTISCAN VOTING EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, the City Council has previously authorized the purchase of Optech IIIP voting equipment for 16 City precincts; and WHEREAS, the initial acquisition of said equipment in 1988 was conducted pursuant to the Uniform Municipal Contracting Law through the solicitation and award of bids; and WHEREAS, it is now necessary to acquire identical equipment to serve four additional precincts for the City; and WHEREAS, such equipment will exceed $25,000 in price; and WHEREAS, it is essential that the City acquirf. identical equipment for all precincts because: 1) ease of training of election judges; 2) maintenance considerations; 3) identical/no cost programming provided by the County; 4) capacity to share equipment between municipalities for school district elections; 5) state law prohibits mi.N-e-d voting systems with precincts; and WHEREAS, there are no other dealers to provide the Optech IIIP voting equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should, and hereby does, authorize the acquisition of Optech IIIP vote counters and accessory equipment from Business Records Corporation at a cost not to exceed $41,190, recognizing that this acquisition is a sole source acquisition exempted from the provisions of the Uniform Municipal Contracting Law. Adopted by the City Council on May 4, 1992.
