HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1991-118CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 4th day of March , 1991. The following members were present: , Mayor Berman. Councilmembers Helliwell, Ricker, Va il'o , and 7itur , The following members were absent: None Cotmcilmember Zitur introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 91-118 APPROVING SUBMITTAL TO HENNEPIN COUNTY OF THE 1991 RECYCLING GRANT APPLICATION WHEREAS, Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 115A-551, by December 31, 1993, each County in the Metropolitan Area will have as a goal to recycle a minimum of thirty-five percent (35%) by weight of total solid waste generation, and each County must develop and implement or require political subdivisions within the County to develop and implement programs, practices or methods designed to meet its recycling goal; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 115A-552 Countys shall ensure that residents have an opportunity to recycle; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County Ordinance 13 requires each City to implement a Recycling Program to enable the County to meet its recycling goals; and WHEREAS, the County has adopted a Hennepin County Funding Assistance Policy for source separated recyclables on September 11, 1990, to distribute funds to cities for the development and implementation of waste reduction and Recycling Programs; and WHEREAS, to be eligible to receive these County funds, cities must meet the conditions set forth in the "Funding Policy"; and WHEREAS, the City desires to receive these County funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: Authorizes submittal of the 1991 Hennepin County Grant Application for Municipal Source Separated Recyclables; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that as a condition to receives funds under the Hennepin County Funding Assistance Policy, the City agrees to implement a Waste Reduction and Recycling Program as committed to by its submission of the 1991 Hennepin County Recycling Grant Application and that the City will use such County funds for the limited purpose of implementing the City's Waste Reduction and Recycling Program. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Ricker , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Bergman, Councilmembers Helliwell, Ricker, , Vasiliou, and Zitur The following voted against or abstained: None _ Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
