HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1990-852CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 17th day of December , 191Q. The following members were present: Mayor Bergman, Councilmambers Helliwell., Ricker. Vasiliou.—and--Zitur The following members were absent: __None- Councilmember Vasiliou introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 90-852 AUTHORIZING MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF THE PUPS (PETS UNDER POLICE SECURITY) FACILITY WHEREAS, municipalities in the Twin City area have heretofore secured their animal containment and disposal facilities through private contract; and WHEREAS, the municipalities have been advised by private vendors that the service will no longer be available; and WHEREAS, municipalities have inquired whether other private vendors might be available to provide this service and found that there is no viable private sector source; and WHEREAS, the communities of Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Brooklyn Center, Crystal, New Hope, and Plymouth have investigated and established PUPS (Pets Under Police Security), which is a proposal for the construction and operation of an animal impound facility in Maple Grove; and WHEREAS, this facility will provide long-term services essential to each community in the area of animal control. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should, and hereby does, authorise the Mayor and City Manager to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement for the purpose of establishing PUPS (Pets Under Police Security) animal impound facility; and FURTHER, that the Public Safety Director and City Manager shall serve as directors to the Joint Powers Group through December 31, 1991. The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Zitur , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Bergman, Councilme_mbers Helliwell, Ricker, Vasiliou, and Zitur The following voted against or abstained: None Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
