HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1990-806CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regmlar meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 10th day of December,_, 192Q. The following members were present: Mayor Bergman, Councilmembers Helliwell, Ricker, yasiliou, and Zitur The following members were absent: —None Councilmember Zitur introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 9,0-806 PLYMOUTH COMMUNITY LIBRARY AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE SITE WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has long sought a library for the community; and WHEREAS, the 1990 - 1994 Capital Budget of the County provided for the development of a community library; and WHEREAS, the City Council previously has suggested three sites to the Hennepin County Library Board staff for their consideration; and WHEREAS, the County's Capital Budgeting Task Force recommended that the 1991 - 1995 Capital Budget not include the Plymouth Community Library due to other priority funding requirements, particularly related to the proposed Hennepin County Jail; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Tad Jude drafted and supported an amendment to the Capital Budgeting Task Force recommendation by the terms of which a Plymouth Community Library would be added to the County's Capital Budget for construction during 1991 and 1992, providing that the City of Plymouth provide the site at no cost to the County; and WHEREAS, the County Board amended its Capital Budget to include the Plymouth Library based upon the amendment provided by Commissioner Jude. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it continues to support the prompt construction of a community library for Plymouth on an appropriate site; and FURTHER, that the sum of $400,000 from the project administration fund be appropriated toward the acquisition cost of the site for the library; and Resolution No. 90-806 Page 2 FURTHER, that a committee of the City Council work with the Library Board to facilitate acquisition of an appropriate site, as well as planning required in order that the library during 1991 and 1992. be established to the selection and to facilitate the can be constructed The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmembar Helliwell , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Bergman; CoungLjjMMb2rs Helliwell, Ricker, Vasiliou, and Zitur The following voted against or abstained: Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
