HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1990-701CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 15th day of ___Qcto? err___, 199-Q. The following members were present: Mayor Bergman, Councilmembers Helliwell, Ricker. Vasiliou, and Zitur __.-__ The following members were absent: _ None Councilmember VasiliQu introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 90-701 AUTHORIZING PLYMOUTH TO JOIN THE ENVIRONMENTAL CITIES COALITION WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth recognizes its role in protecting and preserving the environment of those people living and working within the City; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that there is a need for governmental bodies to work cooperatively on many of the environmental problems facing them; and WHEREAS, the City understands that there is a need for uniform environmental standards and regulations throughout the state; and WHEREAS, the City believes that one way to obtain this type of uniform regulation is to work closely with other cities in such a way as to coordinate the environmental legislation passed in these cities; and WHEREAS, the City also believes that this type of inter -city cooperation may act to stimulate state environmental legislation dealing with the topics addressed by the cities and in a form acceptable to the cities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, authorizes the City to join the Environmental Cities Coalition to participate in its decision making processes, and to share information with other members; and RESOLVED FURTHER, that the City Council understands that, although the decisions of the Environmental Cities Coalition are not binding to the City, the City has a commitment to participate actively in the activities of the group to the fullest extent possible. The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Zitur, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Bergman, Councilmembers Helliwell,_ Ricker, Vasiliou, and Zitur. The following voted against or abstained: None Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
