HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1990-519CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 20th day of August , 1990. The following members were present: , Helliwell_ Zitur, Vasiliou. Ricker, Bergman The following members were absent: Nnne Councilmember Zitur adoption: introduced the following Resolution and moved its RESOLUTION NO. 90- 519 REQUESTING AND ENCOURAGING THE HENNEPIN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO CONTINUE FUNDING MUNICIPAL YARDWASTE DISPOSAL PROGRAMS, TO CONTINUE THE PRESENT FUNDING LEVELS OF MUNICIPAL RECYCLING PROGRAMS, AND MAKE ANY NECESSARY CHANGES WHICH IMPACT THE CITIES FINANCIALLY PRIOR TO AUGUST IF THEY ARE TO BE EFFECTIVE THE FOLLOWING YEAR WHEREAS, County staff persons have indicated that cities may not be funded for yardwaste programs in 1991; and WHEREAS, County funding of said yardwaste programs is vital to a viable city yardwaste program; and WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Board is currently proposing a change to the current funding policy for recycling programs for 1991, which will result in reduced funding to the cities for current recycling programs; and WHEREAS, current levels of County funding for city recycling programs is vital to the overall Recycling Program; and WHEREAS, changes to funding programs made by the County after August to be effactive the following year, severely impact the City's budget and budget planning process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNFSOTA: that is should and hereby does request and encourage the Hennepin County Board to: 1. Continue funding city yardwaste disposal programs. 2. Continue funding city recycling programs at the current levels. 3. Make any necessary funding changes prior to August of any year in which those changes would be effective the following year. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by CO-jadlmember ►+elliwell . and upon vote being taken thereon. the following voted in favor thereof: HP11iwP11_ Zitsar, Va-01inu_ Ricker_ Bergman , The following voted against or abstained: @ Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. **Y4
