HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1964-039VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH Resolution No. 84-39 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 18th day of May, 1984 at the Village Hall, commencing at 7;30 o'clock P. M. The following members were present: Mayor Staples, Trustees Curtis, O'Fallon, Clifford and Humphrey; and the following members were absent: None. * * a * s � Trustee Curtis introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: MREAS, considerable traffic congestion has developed and is occurring at the intersections of Minnesota Trunk Highway No. 55 and County State Aid Highways Noe. 70 and 154, and WHEREAS, from traffic surveys Which have been made with re- spect to these intersections, it has been determined that the highest volume of automobile accidents within the pillage of Plymouth have been occurring at these intersections, and TWRrAS, representatives of the Minnesota Highway Department, the Hennepin County Highway Department and officials of the Village of Plymouth have met and conducted a field insipection of much intersections, and WHEREAS, it appears desirable the m. eous changes be made with respect to said intersections for the purpose of rendering them more safe for motorists and thereby reducing the number of accidents occurring at said intersections, NOW, THEREFORE, THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THIO VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the Minnesota Highway Department is hereby urged to make the following improvements to Minnesota Trunk Highway No.55 in order to render said Highway at its intersections with County State Aid Highways Sas. 70 and 154 more safe for Motorists and thereby reduce the high accident rate at such intersections: a. Improve the visibility on the West bowed Isac of said Trunk Highway No. 55 Wast of County Stato Aid Highway No. 70 by lowering the grade line to pro- vide greator sight distance and improve visibility for South bound traffic on said County State Aid Highway No. 70 crossing said Trunk Highway So. 55. b. Permit the movement of the octagonal "STOP" sign on County State Aid Highway No. 7O north of said Trunk Highway No. 55 to approximately 10 feet of the Borth edge of the West bound traffic lane of said Trunk Highway No. 53. c. Paint white "STOP" lines on County State Aid Highway No. 70 on North and South sides of said Trunk Highway No. 55. d. Construct right and left turn lases for all turning movements at the intersection of said Trunk Wakwaf No. 55 and County State Aid Bighway go. 70. a. Place yellow triangular '7IEL.D" sips at left to= lanes at the intersection of said 'I`ewsk ft ~ Xe. 55 and County State Aid Higbway No. 70. f. Construct right and 'left turn lanes for all traffic movements at the intersection of said Trunk oiSbwaf No. 55 and County State Aid Rtghway No. 154. g. Place yellow triangular 'IMM" signs for sod!" left turns at intersection of said Trunk Mighmy No. 55 and County State Aid Highway No. 134 and similar signs along service road. h. Place octagonal "STOP" signs on County State Aid Highway No. 154 approximately 10 foot free the North and South edge* of the intoaction of d County Road and maid Trunk W%ghw%y No. $3, I.
