HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1963-005MEMO 6,-3� RESOLUTION URGING THE LIZISIATURN OF THE STAT OF MINNESOTA TO ENACT INTO LAW H. F. HO. 122. A regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth was held on the 5th dap of February, 1963, at the Village Hall at 7:30 o'clock P. M. The fbllowing Councilmen were present: Kqur Keefe, Trustees Curtis, 01 Fallon and Reinan. Trustee Curtis introduced the following Resolution and moved its aroption: WHEREAS# planning studies Wade Er the Village of Plymouth unser the direction of the Village Planner and the Village ftineer indicate that the drainage c: surface waters has beams and will became more critical by reason ofthe rapid (levelops®..t of the cosmmnnityl and,, WH10teAS, a suitable method of financing construction of the required and necessary storm sewers and storm drainage throughout the years to come has been a subject of considerable study by the Council= and WHEREAS, it has been deemed desirable to provide a means by which the coat of an orderly and well—planned system of storm sewer and atom drainage is best finanoed from general revenues of the Village rather than from special assessments against benefited propertissl and, WHEREAS, in order to provide a found for these purposes from the general revenues of the Village, special legislation is required by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota to posit the levying of an ad valorem tax for these purposes, and WHEREAS, Representative John A. Zngve has introduced laths Nouse of Representatives H. F. No. 122 which would ault,oriso the Village of Pljmouth to levy a tarn of 5 sills for atom sewers and storm drainage, NCW THEREFORE, Be it resolved as follwss "That the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth does hereby enthusiastically support the provisions of H. F. No. 122 and does strongly urge the Legislature of the State of Minneacta to •naot such bill into lav during the ourrent legislative session." Motion was seconded by Trustee Of Fallon and upon vote being taker thereon the follaring voted in favor thereof Mayor Keefe, Trustees Curtis, OlFallon and Reinan. The following voted against: Nano. The following Councilmen were present: Mayor Keefe, Trustees Curtis, O'Fallon and Reinan. t -t- --Goose# appointed earlier in tarlaeen . he meeting- to #ill tlfe ac -'r ancy closed try the resigaat4�a= ._ dohsllgre m not present . • * e ♦ i e Turstee Curtis introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: WHEREAS, planning studies made by the Village of Plymouth under the direction of the Village Planner and the Village Engineer indicate that the drainage of surface waters has become and will become more critical by reason of the rapid development of the community; and, WHEREAS, a suitable method of financing construction of the re- quired and necessary storm sewers and storm drainage throughout the years to come has been a subject of considerable study by the Council; and, WHEREAB, it has been deemed desirable to provide a means by which the cost of an orderly and well-planned system of storm sewer and storm drainage is best financed from general revenues of the Village rather than from special assessments against benefited properties; and, WHEREAS, in order to provide a fund for these purposes from the general revenues of the Village special legislation is required by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota to permit the levying of an ad valorem tax for these purposes; and, WHERUB, Representative John A. Yngve has introduced in the Souse of Representatives H.F. No. 122 which would authorize the Village of Plymouth to levy a tax of b mills for storm sewers and storm drainage, NOW TMUYORZ, be it resolved as followd't .That the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth does hereby enthusiastically support the provisions of n. jr. No. 122 and does strongly urge the Legislature of the dtate of Minnesota to enact such bill into law during the current legislative session," The motion was seconded by Trustee O'Fallon and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Keefe, Trustees Curtis, O'Fallon and Reinan. The following voted against: None whereupon the motion wan declared duly passed and adopted.
