HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1960-01CHAPTER 61-2 ORDINANCE 60-1 An Ordinance Amending An Or- dinance Regulating and Pro• viding for the Licensing of Out- door Advertising Signs Known as Chapter 61 The Village Council of Ply- mouth do hereby ordain as fol- lows: Section 1. Section 2 and Sec- tion 7 of Chapter 61 of the Ordi- nances of the Village of Plymouth entitled, "An Ordinance RegWat- Ing ane Providing for the Li- censing of Outdoor Advertising Signs" are hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2. Signs for which permits are required: The own- er or occupant of any premis- es on which there is displayed a sign or the owner of such sign (other than signs author- ized by paragraphs 3 (a), 3 (b) and 3 (c) of this ordinance) shall file application with the village clerk before any such sign is displayed or constructed. At the time of the thing of an application with the clerk for permission to display a sign, the applicant shall accompany such application with a de- scription thereof and a sketch showing the size, location, man- ner of construction and such other information as shall be necevsary fully and completely to advise the council of the kind, size, construction and lo- cation of the same. No sign shall be displayed at any time unless a permit therefor, which shall specify the location of the sign, shall have been granted by the Council, and its appli- cant shall have complied with the terms of this chapter. Des- pite the compliance by the ap- plicant with all other provi- sions of this ord i n a ne e, the Council reserves the right to deny the permit applied for if in the opinion of the council the erection of the sign for which a permit is requested would tend to create or increase a traffic condition dangerous to the pub- lic. If any permit Is denied on the grounds specified in the preceding sentence, a statement of such grounds shall be set forth in the resolution of the Council." "Section 7. License Fee: Ex- cept as hereinafter provided, there is hereby imposed an an- nual license fee for each sign (other than signs authorized by paragraphs 3 (a), 3 (b) and 3 (c) (3) of this ordinance), which fee shall be a sum equiv- a:.:nt to two and 50/100 dollars ($2.50), plus ten cents (10c) for each square foot of surface of such sign. Such fee shall be payable at the time of appli- cation for permit for such sign and on or before January 1 of each year thereafter. Provided, ed, however, that no annual li- cense fee shall be imposed upon any owner ortenantof any build. Ing or business establishment which is a part of any building for erecting or maintaining one sign on such building or busi- ness establishment, but that the annual license fee provided for herein shall be imposed for herein shall be imposed for each of such signs in excess of on. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and pubU- cation. Passed by the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth this 5th day of January, 1880.
