AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY:
AMENDING SECTION 915.17, SUBD. 2. RELATING
TO IMPOUNDMENT OF DOGS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 915.17, Subd. 2, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"915.11. Dog Bites.
Subd. 2. "Impoundment". Whenever the Chief of Police shall learn
that any human being has been bitten by a dog in the City, he shall
ascertain the identity of such dog and the person owning, possessing or
harboring it, shall immediately direct such person to forthwith impound
such dog as herein required. Provided that if such dog has bitten a i
human being while on the premises of its owner and said dog is currently
licensed and vaccinated against rabies infection, the Chief of Police or
Animal Warden may permit the dog to be impounded upon the premises of
its owner provided that it is kept apart from members of the general
public during such impoundment period. If under the circumstances the
dog is not currently licensed the Chief of Police or Animal Warden may
permit the owner of such dog to immediately obtain a license therefor
paying all fees required including late licensing fees. The impoundment
fee for any dog that is impounded in the City pound a second time for
biting a human being shall be double the regular impoundment fee pro-
vided elsewhere in this Code. The Chief of Police shall order and dir-
ect the transport of such dog to the City pound. Any dog so impounded
shall be kept.continuously so confined for a period of ten days after
the day the dog, bit a human being.
Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective upon
its passage and publication.
