HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1976-13CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDINANCE NO. 76-13 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING TRESPASSING ON PUBLIC SCHOOL PROPERTY AND AMENDING SECTION 6 OF CHAPTER V OF THE CITY CODE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter V, Section 6 of the City Code of the City of Plymouth is hereby amended to read as follows: 6.01. Definitions. As used in this chapter the following terms shall mean: Public School shall be any school building, school grounds, play area, parking lot or athletic field owned or leased by a public school district. School Official shall be the principal, assistant principal, or any school teacher. 6.02. Trespassing Prohibited. No person shall trespass in or upon any public sc ool by remaining upon said school premises after being ordered to leave the public school by a school official. 6.03. Permission Required for Reentry. No person, having been ordered by a school official to leave a public school and having left said premises, shall reenter said public school without the written permission of the school principal or the school official who gave the order to leave the public school. 6.04. Defacement of School Buildings. No person shall mark with ink, paint, chalk or other substance, or post hand bills on, or in any other manner deface or injure fences, trees, lawns or fixtures appurtenant to or located on the site of such buildings, or post hand bills on such fences, trees or fixtures. No signs shall be placed or posted anywhere on any such site without the express permission of school authorities. 6.05. Breach of Peace on School Grounds. No person in any school building or on any school property or grounds shall make or assist in making any noise, disturbance, diversion or activity by which peace, quiet and good order are disturbed. 6.06. Fighting and Brawling on School Grounds. No person in any school building or on any school property or grounds shall engage in, threaten to engage in cl assist in engaging in any riot, fight, brawl, tumultuous conduct or act of violence. 6.07. Indecent Language -on School Grounds. No person shall use foul, offensive, obscene or indecent language in any school building or on any school property or grounds. 6.08. Improper Conduct While School in Session. No person shall, in any school room or in any building or on the ground adjacent to the same, disturb or interrupt the peace and good order of such school while in session. Any person not in immediate attendance in such school and being in such building or upon the premises belonging thereto who shall conduct or behave himself so as to disturb the peace or good order of such school or who upon the request of a teacher of such school or the person in charge thereof to leave said building or Ordinance No. 76-13 Page 2 premises, or having been ordered not to enter school premises, shall enter those premises without permission of the school principal or the school official who gave the order not to enter or to leave the public school, or shall neglect or refuse to do so, shall be in violation of this ordinance. L. 6.09. Penalty. Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction j thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding $100 or be imprisoned for not more than 90 days. Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and publication. Adopted this 12th day of July 1976. Mayor ATTEST: Loretta Garrity, City Clerk
