HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1974-01CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDINANCE NO. 74-1 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO ELECTIONS: ESTAIILISHING A BIZNNIAL CITY ELECTION DATE: EXTENDING THE TERMS OF CERTAIN ELECTIVE OFFICERS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDAINS: Chapterjj of the City Code of the City of Plymouth is amended by adding a new section to read as follows: "Section 18. CITY ELECTIONS. 18.01 Authority. This section is enacted pursuant to the authority granted by Laws 1973, Chapter 123, Article II, Section 3, and Article III, Section 4. It is the intent of this section to provide for a sys�em of biennial city elections in odd -numbered years. 18.02. Citv Election Date. The regular city election shall be held on ;.he first Tuesday after the first Monday in November o: each odd -numbered year commencing in the year 1975. There shall be no regular city election in the year 1974. 18.03. Transition Schedule. In order to carry out the legislative intent of Laws 197.3, Chapter 123, Article II, Section 3, Subdivision 3, the following schedule of elections, officers, terms is adopted to govern city elections in -the years 1974 to 1979. In years after 1979 the officers to be elected and their terms shall be as provided in Laws 1973, Chapter 123, Article II, Section 412.02.
