VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF
THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH WITH PARTICULAR REFER-
ENCE TO MULTIPLE DWELLING UNITS
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Amendment of Ordinance. Ordinance No. 68-8 of the Village
of Plymouth, commonly known as the Plymouth Zoning Ordinance. hereby is amend-
ed as hereinafter set forth:
1.01. Section 4, Subdivision 2 of the said Zoning Ordinance is hereby
amended by repealing and deleting therefrom the definitions of
"Garage, Private" and "Garage, Public" and by substituting there-
for:
"Garage. Private --A garage with a capacity of not more than four
power -driven passenger vehicles for storage only.
Garage, Public --Any premises, except those described as a private
garage, or semi -private garage, used for the storage or care
of power -driven vehicles, or where any such vehicles are
equipped for operation, repair, or are kept for remuneration,
hire or sale.
Garage, Semi -Private (Multinle Dwelling) --A garage with a capacity
of five or more power -driven passenger vehicles for storage
only, enclosed in a structure located under the principal
structure."
1.02. Section 100 Subdivision 5 of said Zoning Ordinance is amended by
repealing paragraph Sc (1) and.(9) thereof and by substituting
the following therefor:
"5. Lot Area Regulations:
c. The maximum amount of allowance permitted for 1,500 square
feet per dwelling unit and the basis for computing the
amount of allowance permitted shall be as follows:
(1) For each semi -private garage parking stall in excess
of one (1) space as defined in Section 17, Subdivision
2 subtract 400 square feet.
(9) For each bedroom in excess of two (2) in any one
dwelling unit add 600 square feet."
1.03. Section 10, Subdivision 6 of said Zoning Ordinance is amended by
repealing paragraph 3 thereof.
1.04. Section 10, Subdivision 6, paragraph 4 of said Zoning Ordinance is
hereby renumbered as paragraph 3 and the following shall be
numbered as paragraph 4 thereof:
"4. Grade Level Apartmeat:
At least one complete exterior wall of any grade level dwel-
ling unit must be exposed above ground surface."
1.05. Section 10, Subdivision 6, paragraph 5 of said Zoning Ordinoice is
hereby amended by adding the following thereto as paragraph 5d:
"d. Ratio of Dwelling Units --No more than twenty (20) percent of
the dwelling units in any one buildingshall be efficiency
dwelling units, and no more than ten 10) percent of the
dwelling units in any one building shall contain three or
more bedrooms."
1.06. Section 10, Subdivision 6 of said Zoning Ordinance is amended by
repealing paragraph 6 thereof relating to sound, and paragraph 7
is renumbered as paragraph 6.
1.07. Section 10, Subdivision 6 of said Zoning Ordinance is further
amended by repealing paragraphs 8 and 9 thereof and substituting t
paragraphs 7 and 8 following therefor:
"7. Trash Disposal (Excluding Garbage):
Except for residences with private entrances, one trash chute
for each sixty (60) apartment units shall be required which
is connected directly to a compactor or approved incinerator
located in a proper room in the basement or ground floor level
Provisions must be made to deliver residual trash to grade
level for pickup. In the case of residences with private
entrances, an enclosure complete with roof and walls with or
without a compactor or approved incinerator must be provided
at ground level.
8. Elevators:
Except for residences with private entrances, multiple
residence buildings of three stories or more shall be equip-
ped with at least one public elevator and lobby for every
sixty (60) apartment units with no dwelling unit door more
than 150 feet from an elevator, but in no case shall less
than one elevator be provided."
1.08. Section 10, Subdivision 6, paragraph 10 of said Zoning Ordinance
is renumbered as paragraph 9.
1.09. Section 17, Subdivision 2 of said Zoning Ordinance is amended by
repealing paragraph 14c and substituting the following therefor:
"c. Multiple Dwelling or Community Unit Project except Town-
houses --One and one-half (1J%) parking spaces per dwelling
unit, provided further that one such space shill be completely
enclosed in a semi -private garage."
1.10. Section 17, Subdivision 3 of said Zoning Ordinance is hereby
amended by adding the following thereto as paragraph 8:
"8. Garbage Disposal:
All residential units, institutional facilities, industrial
operations or ccmmercial operations producing garbage (food
wastes) must be e4Jipped with an approved powered garbage
disposal unit directly connected to the sanitary waste syi;tem.'
Section 2. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its
passage and publication.
Adopted this 21st day of August, 1972.
