HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1971-21VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH ORDINANCE NO. 71- 21 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER V, SECTION 7 OF THE VILLAGE CODE RELATING TO SN0WMOBILES, THEIR USE AND OPERATION THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Amendment of Village Code. Chapter V, Section 7 of the Village Code is hereby amended as follows: 1.01. Paragraph (2) of Section 7.01 is hereby amended to read: "'Snowmobile' means a self-propelled vehicle designed for travel on snow or ice steered by skis or rummers." i 1.02. Paragraph (2), (4) and (5) of Section 7.04 are I hereby repealed and the following substituted as Paragraph (4) of Section 7.04: "(4) A headlamp and taillamp, each of minimum ' candle power as may be prescribed by regulation of the Commissioner of Natural Resources of the State of MinnesotaLxflective material of a minimum area of 16 square inches mounted on each side forward of the handle bars, and with E brakes, each of which shall conform to standards prescribed by rule of the Commissioner of Natural Resources and each of which shall be subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Highways. Any sled, trailer or other device being towed by a snowmobile must be equipped with reflective material as required by rule and regulation of the Commissioner of Natural Resources." 1.03. Paragraph (1) of Section 7.06 is hereby amended by deleting the words "Commissioner of Conservation and inserting the words "Commissioner of Natural Resources" and by adding the following language to said paragraph: "No person under the age of 14 years shall operate a snowmobile on any public land or water under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Natural Resources unless accompanied by one of the following listed persons on the same or an accompanying snowmobile, or on a device towed by the same or an accompanying snowmobile: His parent, legal guardian, or other person 18 years of age or older. However, a person 12 years of age or older way operate asnowmobile on public lands and waters under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Natural Resources if he has in his immediate possession a valid snowmobile safety certificate issued by such Commissioner." 1.04. Section 7.10 is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: "7.10. Penalties. The penalties prescribed by Section $4.88, Minnesota Statutes, shall be applicable to this section." Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage and publication. Adopted by the Village Council this iat day of November , 1971. ATTEST:
