HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1971-11VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH ORDINANCE NO. 71-11 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 9.04 AND 9.05 OF CHAPTER VIII OF THE VILLAGE CODE RELATING TO WATER CONNECTION PERMITS THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Amendment of Ville Code. 1.01. Section 9.04 of Chapter VIII of the Village Code is hereby amended by adding the following sentence to subparagraph A. thereof: 119.04. A. . . . Such a permit may be issued i to the owner of any property who is residing thereon and who proposes to install, alter or extend a connection to the municipal water system on such property and such installation, alteration or extension by such owner shall be subject to the regular and periodic inspection and approval by Village inspectors during the course of such installation, alteration or extension." 1.02. Section 9.05 A. of Chapter VIII of the Village Code is hereby amended by repealing the last sentence of said Section 9.05 A. and substituting the fallowing therefor "9.05. Service Charges. A. Water Connection Permit. . . . No permit shall be issued except to a licensed and bonded plumber or to the owner of the premises who is residing thereon and who proposes to make his own connection to existing water service leads at t.,he curb box on his own property. When such a permit is issued to anowner proposing to make his own connection on his own property such connection shall be subject to the usual and regular inspections of Village inspectors." Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and publication. Adopted this 7th day of _ 1971. C. When service connections have been installed, application for water service may be made either by the owner or his duly authorized agent. 9.05. Service Charges. A. Water Connection Permit. A permit must be obtained to connect to existing water service leads at the curb box. The fee for a single family residential 5/8" x 3/4" meter shall be $80.00. No permit shall be issued except to a licensed and bonded plumber or to the owner of the premises who is residing thereon and who proposes to make his own connection to existing water service leads at the curb box on his own property. trhen such a permit is issued to an owner proposing to make his own connection on his own property such connection shall be subject to the usual and regular inspections of Village inspectors. For larger connections, the amount to be charged shall be as follows: she fee for each permit shall be $25.00 plus the cost of the meter in respect to its size. The meter shall remain to be the property of the Village. C. Service Connection. If a service connection is required for a lot that is presently unserviced, the connection to the water main, corporation stop, curb - 213 - 9.02. The superintendent shall see that all rules and regulations per- taining to the water system, the tapping of same by licensed plumbers, and the use of water be complied with in all respects, to see that no persons shall open any hydrant for any purpose whatsoever without his permission, except members of the Fire Department. 9.03. Bond Required. No person, firm, or corporation shall engage in the business of installing water service unless he has first posted a bond in the amount of $1,000 and has a master plumber's license as required under the State Plumbing Code. 9.04. A. Permit Required. No person, firm, or corporation shall install, alter or extend any individual municipal water system in the municipality without first obtaining a permit therefor frm£the Water Department for the specific installation. alteration or extension. Such a permit may be issued to the owner of any property who is residing thereon and who proposes to install, alter or extend a connection to the municipal water system on such property and such installation, alteration or extension by such owner shall be subject to the regular and periodic inspection and approval by Village inspectors during the course of such installation, alter- ation, or extension. At the time of applying for said permit, the applicants shall pay a service charge as indicated in Section 5. Such permits shall be valid for a period of six months from date of issue.
