AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 70-20 AND A�MNDING THE
ti
BUILDING CODE RELATTMG TO LOCKS & LATCHES
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH DO HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Repeal of Ordinance. Ordinance No. 70-20 adopted by the
Village Council on May 4, 1970 is hereby repealed.
Section 2., Amendment of Village Code. Section 2 0£ Chapter VI of
the Village Code is hereby amended by adding the following thereto as
Section 2.08:
2.08. Locks Renuired in Apartment Buildings.
{ Section 3303 (c) of the Uniform Building Code is amended by
if adding the following thereto,

( 'The exit doors of each living unit in all
t apartment buildings in the Village shall be
equipped with a lock that has a deadlocking bolt,
provided, however, that such doors shall be
capable of being opened from the inside without
the use of a key or any special knowledge or:
effort and from the outside with a key. An
approved security system shall, be provided for,
each building to control access. The secured
area provided by such system shall be the
entire building, except fo-r the foyers. Dead
latch type door locks shall be provided with
key cylinders on the foyer side. Latches are
to be the type that are permanently locked from
the foyer and permanently unlocked from the hall
side.'." _
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance 'shall be effective
upon its passage and publication.
Adopted by the Village Council the 18th day of May, 1910.
