HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1967-25VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH ORDINANCE NO. 67- � AN ORDINANCE AAIENDTNG CHAPTER 13 OF THE BUILDING CODE AND CHAPTER VI OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH TIIE VILLAGE COUNCIL CU THE VILLAGE OF PLY111OUTH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Amendment of Building Code. 1.01 Chapter 13 of the Building Code of the Village of Plymouth is hereby amended to add the following thereto as Section 1307A: "Sec. 1307A. (a) In addition to the requirements of Chapter 38 herein, each apartment house shall be equipped with an automatic fire detection alarm system and a manual fire alarm. (b) The automatic fire detection and alarm system must be installed in all corridors on not more than 25 foot centers, in all furnace rooms, in all incinerator rooms, storage rooms, laundry rooms, and all non - occupied rooms. (c) The automatic alarms are to be of the thermal -link type (heat activated) and all alarm systems must comply with NFPA Standard No. 72 and be UL approved. The electric service is to be installed on a separate circuit breaker to be painted red in color. An alarm bell or horn shall be installed on each floor and in the basement. A manual alarm box is to be installed at each exit of each floor and at any basement exit. (d) Such automatic fire detection system, following its installation shall be tested every three (3) months to determine that it is in working order. Such tests shall be made by persons qualified to repair such systems and a tag or other similar label shall be placed at or near the circuit breaker following such inspection as evidence of the inspection." 1.02 This Ordinance shall be added to the Ordinance Code as Section 2.06 of Chapter VI thereof. Section 2. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall become effective upon its passage and publication. Adopted by the Village Council the 7" Oay of 1X, el"hee,0,1967
