RESOLUTION 88- 605
DENYING VARIANCE FOR JEROME P. BEGIN (88062)
WHEREAS, Jerome P. Begin has requested approval of a variance for construction of a
canopy to within 30 feet of the Vinewood Lane property line on the site of the
Cottonwood Plaza Shopping Center where the Zoning Ordinance specifies 50 feet; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said request and recommends denial;
HOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that it hereby does deny the request for Jerome P. Begin for Variance for
construction of a canopy to within 30 feet of the Vinewood Lane property line at the
.site of the Cottonwood Plaza Shopping Center where the Zoning Ordinance specifies 50
feet, based on the following findings:
1. No hardship, only inconvenience, to the owner would result if the strict letter
of the regulations are carried out.
2. The conditions upon which the petition for variation are based are not unique to
the parcel upon which the variance is sought, and are generally applicable to
other property within the B-3 Zoning District.
3. The purpose of the variation is based exclusively on the desire to increase the
income value of the parcel of land.
4. The alleged hardship is not caused by this Ordinance, but by the owner of this
parcel resulting from earlier site planning decisions.
