Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the moist — day of �September , 1987.
The following members were present: Mayor Schne der, Counc me37 --mbers Vasiliou,
Zitur, Crain and Sisk
The following members were absent: None
Counctlmember Sisk introduced the following Resolution and moved its
adopt on:
RESOLUTION 87-585
A RESOLUTION WITH RESPECT TO CANADIAN GEESE
WHEREAS, the City Council has received complaints from Plymouth residents and
businesses with respect to the public health and safety hazards proposed by the ever
Increasing Canadian geese population within the community; and
WHEREAS, the City has considered alternatives for controlling said population, Includ-
ing special hunting seasons, private trapping and translocation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a public hearing informational meeting on
September 21, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. to receive public Input on this subject; and
WHEREAS, based upon the public Informational meeting there is confirmation that a::;,
translocation program Is the most effective alternative for geese control in an urban
area; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Cooper is under contract with the Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources to conduct translocation programs. .A
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, that t
It should, and hereby does, authorize the removal of Canadian geese from publicly
and/or privately owned sites within the City of Plymouth in accordance with the geese
translocation program operated by Dr. Cooper; and
FURTHER, that the City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and enter into an
agreement with Dr. Cooper for the translocation of geese from Plymouth during calendar`
year 1988; and
FURTHER, than an amount not to exceed $4,000 is hereby allocated from Account No.
101-190-899.46, to be used for geese removal from public sites or if unexpended for
this purpose, made available on a cost sharing basis for geese removal on privately
owned sites.
The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by
Counciimember Crain , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Mayor Schneider, Councilmembers Vasiliou, Zitur, Crain and
Sisk
