Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a ��s,ecial meetinq of the City Council of
the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 14th day of September , 1987.

RESOLUTION 87-580
ADOPTING A POSITION STATEMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE SITING OF
A SOLID WASTE TRANSFER FACILITY AT COUNTY ROAD 6 AND I-494
WHEREAS, a fundamental function of munlcipal government is the protection of the public
health and safety; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners has preliminarily identified a site
In Plymouth at the Intersections of County Road 6 and I-494 as a future location for a
solid waste transfer facility; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has submitted testimony before the Board in an attempt to
Influence the siting decision; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a special meeting with County Commissioners to
communicate Council concerns with respect to the site; and
WHEREAS, there are numerous aspects of the siting process, as well as concerns relating
to site location and operation which require a formal Council position; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to clarify Its position on this issue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that it should, and hereby does, adopt a position statement with respect to
the siting of a solid waste transfer facility at County Road 6 and I-494 dated
September 14, 1987; and
FURTHER, that said position statement be communicated to Interested parties as
appropriate.
The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by
CoUncilmember Zitur , and upon vote being taken thereon, e
roilowiLng voted In favor thereof: Mayor Schneider. Councilmembers Vasiliou, Zitur,
Crain and Sisk
