HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1987-134CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 23rd day of February , 1987. The following members were present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmembers Crain, Sisk, and Zitur The following members were absent: -Councilmember Vasiliou Councilmember Crain introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 87-134 DIRECTING STAFF TO PROCEED WITH INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS WITH REFUSE HAULERS AND THE PUBLIC TOWARD EVENTUAL IMPLEMENTATION OF ORGANIZED REFUSE COLLECTION IN THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth currently has an open system of refuse collection; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Solid Waste Management Development Guide and Policy Plan points out the advantages of an Organized Collection System; and WHEREAS, increasing emphasis by State, Metropolitan Council and County Governments dictate a more active role in the Waste Management area by local governments; and WHEREAS, the City desires to reach the Recycling goals established by Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, an Organized Refuse Collection System would provide a means to achieve those goals. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA That City Staff proceed to hold informational meetings with the licensed refuse haulers in the City of Plymouth, hold public information meetings with Citizen Groups and draft necessary Ordinances with the intent that following a public hearing by the City Council an Organized Solid Waste Collection System will be considered, revised and/or adopted by the City Council. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Zitur and upon vote bein taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Schneider, touncilmembers train, Sisk, and Zitur The following voted against or abstained:. none Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
