HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1985-911Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 4th day of November , 1985. The following members were present: ay0r Mayenport, ounce mem era eils, Schneider, Crain and Vasiliou The following members were absent: none Mayor Davenport introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 85- 911 REQUESTING HENNEPIN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT SPEED AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL WARRANT STUDIES WHEREAS, In November 1983 the City of Plymouth requested the Hennepin County Department of Transportation to conduct a study at the intersection of County Road 6 and Fernbrook Lane to determine whether traffic signals were warranted; and WHEREAS, the County undertook the study and reported in February of 1984 that the conclusion of the study was that the installation of traffic signals cannot be justified and is not recommended; and WHEREAS, traffic volumns have increased since the last study was undertaken and additional accidents have occurred at this intersection; and WHEREAS, concerns have also been expressed whether the existing posted speed limit is appropriate on County Road 6. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HERESY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA That the Hennepin County Department of Transportation is requested to conduct a study at the intersection of County Road 6 and Fernbrook Lane to determine if traffic signals are warranted. FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the City requests the Hennepin County Department of Transportation to make a request to the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation to undertake an engineering study to determine a safe and reasonable speed on County Road 6 from Highway 55 on the east to the vest Plymouth City limits. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Crain , and upon vote being taken thereon, the , following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Davenport, Councilmembers Neils, S,;hnei der. Crain and Vasi 1 i ou The following voted against or abstained:. none Whereupon the Resolution wu declared duly passed and adopted.
