HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1985-875CITY OF Pl'iWWTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 21st day of October �% 1935. . The following members were present: 14ayor Davenport, "ouncilmembers Crain, Neils, Schneider and Vasiliou The following members were absent: none Councilmember Schneider introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 85-575 RESOLUTION REVISING POLICY ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR DEFERMENT OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS AGAINST OWNER -OCCUPIED HOMESTEAD PROPERTY OF SENIOR CITIZENS WHEREAS, in 1980 the City Council adopted a policy establishing procedures for deferment of special assessments for senior citizens meeting income guidelines for homestead property; and WHEREAS, the policy is prepared in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 435.193-195: and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes authorize the City Council to adopt a policy which would provide the deferment of special assessments against owner -occupied homesteaded property for individuals who are permanently and totally disabled and who meet the income guidelines; and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of revising the existing policy to allow disabled individuals to avail themselves to the policy; and WHEREAS, in a report dated October 8, 1985, certain revisions have been proposed for City Council consideration which make both senior citizens and permanently and totally disabled individuals eligible for the policy; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plymouth, that it should and hereby does approve ,amendments to the policy establishing procedures for deferment of special assessments against owner -occupied homestead property of senior citizens as contained in the City staff memorandum dated October 8, 1985; and FURTHER, that the Finance Department is authorize to administer the revised policy accordingly. The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Crain , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted In favor thereof: Mayor Davenport, Councilmembers Crain, Neils, Schneider and Vasiliou The following voted against or abstained: none Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopt;
