HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1984-682CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on t e st day of October , 1984 The following members were present: Mayor Davenport, Councilmembers Neils,________ Schneider and Crain THE following mem ers were a sent: -'ouncilmem er Moen Councilmember Neils introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 8't- 682 PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 7 - 13, 1984 AS "FIRE PREVENTION WEEK" IN THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH WHEREAS, the week of October 7-13 is designated as National Fire Prevention Week; and WHEREAS, the United States has the highest fire death rate of any industrialized country in the world; and WHEREAS, during the first eight months of 1984, 351 fire calls within the City of ' Plymouth have resulted in $617,000 in property damage; and WHEREAS, it is essential that measures be taken to reduce the destruction of life and property by fire; and WHEREAS, only through fire prevention can the nation hope to stem such alarming losses; and WHEREAS; the City of Plymouth wishes to join with the nation in emphasizing the importance of fire prevention in the home and at work; NOW, THEREFORE, I, DAVID J. DAVENPORT, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, do hereby declare October 7-13, 1984 as "Fire Prevention Week" in the City of Plymouth; and FURTHER, do urge citizens and business proprietors within the City to join in the spirit and intent of Fire Prevention Week by taking affirmative action to reduce the fire hazard in the home and at work.
