Neilsy The o ' ow ng ft&ras were sent* None s#� rrf •r• Councilmember Neils Introduced the following Resolution and moved its a t on: RESOLUTION NO. 83- 529 GREATER METROPOLITAN AREA FOREIGN TRADE ZONE WHEREAS, the Port Authority of the City of Bloomington, Minnesota, has submitted an application to the Secretary of Commerce seeking authority to establish a foreiqn trade zone; and WHEREAS, the application of the Port Authority recognizes the need for a foreign trade zone to serve the entire metropolitan area which is evidenced by the proposed title of the foreign trade zone; and 10 WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has heretofore expressed interest in establishing its own foreign trade zone in order to provide the benefits of such a zone to its corporate and Industrial citizens; and WHEREAS, the designation of a foreign trade zone within the Twin City metropolitan area as requested by the Port Authority of the City of Bloomington, would also permit the subsequent establish of subzones within the area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plymouth that the Council support the application of the Port Authority of the City of Bloom- ington In order that they might obtain favorable consideration of their request to establish the "Greater Metropolitan Area Foreign Trade Zone", and be. it further resolved, that this Council urges the Honorable Malcolm Baldrldge, Secretary of Commerce, Chairman of the Foreign Trade Zones Board, to act expeditiously and favor- ably upon the request as submitted by the Port Authority �f the City of Bloomington.
