Mayor Davenport introduced the following Resolution and moved Its

RESOLUTION NO. 83- 513
PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 9-15, 1983 AS
"FIRE PREVENTION WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH
WHEREAS, the week of October 9-15 is designated as National Fire Prevention Week; and
WHEREAS, the United States has the highest fire death rate of any industrialized
country in the world; and
WHEREAS, during the first eight months of 1983, 288 fire calls within the City of
Plymouth have resuled in $552,320 in property damage; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that measures be taken to reduce the destruction of life and
property by fire; and
WHEREAS, only through fire prevention can the nation hope to stem such alarminq
losses; grid
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth wishes to join with the nation in emphasizinq the
importance of fire prevention in the home and at work;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DAVID J. DAVENPORT, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, do hereby
declare October 9-15, 1983 as "Fire Prevention Week" in the City of Plymouth; and
FURTHER, do urge citizens and business proprietors within the City to ,join in the
spirit and intent of Fire Prevention Week by taking affirmative actlor, to reduce the
fire hazards in the home and at work.
The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by
Councilmember Neils , and upon vote beinq taken thereon, the
o ow no voted n favor t ereo :Mavor navannnrt_ Councilmembers Moen, Neils.
Whereupon the Resolution was declared
