The following members were present,—m Davenport, Councilmembers Threinen, Neils, e.: o.. owng rs were absent: None •H! fH Mayor Davenport introduced the following Resolution and moved its a on: RESOLUTION NO. 83- 512 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 30 - NOVEMBER 4, 1983 AS "CHEMICAL PEOPLE WEEK" IN THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH WHEREAS, alcohol and drug abuse is a problem which affects every resident of our community through social and/or economic costs; and WHEREAS, the Impact of drug and alcohol abuse is especially significant with respect to the young people of our area; and WHEREAS, the education of young people as to the harmful affects of drugs and alochol Is necessary to enable them to make a responsible choice when faced with the chemical decision; and WHEREAS, 'The Chemical People: Minnesota" is a state-wide project designed to pro- vide accurate and vital information on the problems associated with alcohol and drug abuse through the use of television and town meetings; and WHEREAS, endorsement by municipal officials of "The Chemical People: Minnesota" pro- ject may encourage a higher level of participation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plymouth that the week of October 30 - November 4, 1983 is hereby proclaimed as "Chemical People Week" and all of the residents of Plymouth are hereby encouraged to partici- pate in the week's activities to whatever extent is possible.
