HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1981-0467, CITY OF PLYftT'H Pursuant to due call and notice the City Council of the City of 19th day of Janu were present: la r Davenpo The following members were • *r thereof, a regular meeting of Plymouth, M nnesota, was held on the iry 1981 The following members unc me ers oyt; Reils, Schneider b Threine Councilmember Neils introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 81- 46 RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO PROPOSAL FOR REALLOCATION OF THE TWO PERCENT FIRE, LIGHTNING, SPRINKLER LEAKAGE AND EXTENDED COVERAGE INSURANCE PREMIUMS WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth is desirous of maintaining a financially sound pension program for its volunteer firefighters through the Plymouth Firemen's Relief Association; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of the 2% insurance premium state aid available under Minnesota Statutes 69.021 and 69.031 to attain and maintain an actuarially sound pension benefit program which meets the needs and desires of the City; and WHEREAS, allocation of a portion or all of said funds to purposes othor than existing purpose iaay jeopardize the Association's financial ability to improve pension and other benefit levels which are deemed desirous or necessary by the City to attract and retain qualified volunteer and/or paid call fire- fighters; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, that it is opposed to any proposal introduced before the Minnesota Legislature which would eliminate the exclusive allocation to the Plymouth Firemen's Relief Association of the 2% insurance premium state aid described in Minnesota Statutes Chapter 69.021 and 69.031. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Threinen , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following vote n favor thereof: Mayor Davenport, Councilmembers Hoyt, Neils, Schneider and Threinen The following voted against or abstained Whereupon the'Resolution was declared du
