RESOLUTION No. 2013-221
ACCEPT THE ENGINEERING REPORT AND AUTHORIZE THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR
THE MEDICINE LAKE RETAINING WALL
CITY PROJECT NO. 13020
WHEREAS, the Medicine Lake retaining wall and paved trail (8 ft wide) is
showing noticeable distress and failure; and
WHEREAS, the City has engaged SRF Consulting Group, Inc. to provide
recommendations and cost estimates for the Medicine Lake retaining wall; and
WHEREAS, SRF Consulting Group, Inc. is preparing plans and specifications for
the replacement of the City Project No. 13020; and
WHEREAS, City Project No. 13020 includes trail and retaining wall removal and
replacement, excavation of the shoreline, and new chain-link fencing to meet new safety
standards; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project will be fiinded with 2012 surplus fiind with an
estimated the total project cost at $700,000-$835,000 depending on retaining wall
materials; and
WHEREAS, the bids will be initiated in late July and available for bid award at
the August 27 City Council Meeting. The project is scheduled to begin work on Monday,
September 3 and substantially complete by November 29, 2013; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, to accept the Engineering
Report and authorize the advertisement for bids for the replacement of the Medicine Lake
Retaining Wall, City Project No. PRK13020.
