RESOLUTION NO. 2004-012
AUTHORIZING THE VICKSBURG LANE RESERVOIR AND
PUMPING STATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND
DESIGNATING THE ENGINEER FOR THIS PROJECT
CITY PROJECT NO. 3108
WI-1EREAS, on December 18, 2001, the City Council approved a resolution modifying the
comprehensive water supply and distribution plan to include a six million gallon ground storage
reservoir and pumping station on the City -owned parcel of land located at the northwest corner of
Schmidt Lake Road and Vicksburg Lane; and
WIffiREAS, the comprehensive plan amendment deleted the 2.5 million gallon elevated tank off fiiture
Cheshire Lane adjacent to The Reserve development, and deleted a potential future 1.5 million gallon
elevated tank off Dunkirk Lane south of County Road 47; and
WIffiREAS, City staff and engineers from our designated engineering pool have assisted in the review
of the City's water supply and distribution system over the past year, and determined that it is critical
to proceed with the ground storage reservoir project; and
WIffiREAS, a request for proposal was sent to six of our seven designated engineering firms that have
expertise in the water supply and distribution area; and
WI-IEREAS, six proposals were received and evaluated by a consultant selection committee, and three
firms, TKDA, BRA, and HRG were selected to be interviewed December 19, 2003; and
VJ-IEREAS, it was the consensus of the consultant selection committee that BRA should be
recommended as the engineer for this project; and
WIffiREAS, the ground storage reservoir project is listed as a 2002 CIP project in the approved 2001 —
2006 CIP program at an estimated total cost of $5.6 million and should be increased due to cover
inflation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA:
The Vicksburg Lane Reservoir and Pumping Station Project, City Project No. 3108,
is hereby authorized
• Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik and Assoc., Inc. is designated as the City's design and
constriction services firm for this project.
• Funding in the amount of $6,000,000 will be provided from the Utility Trunk Fund.
Adopted by the City Council on January 13, 2004.
