HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2005-229CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2005-229 AWARD CONTRACT 2005 STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT RANCHVIEW EAST AND WEST AREAS, GLEANLOCH AREA, AND CARLSON PARKWAY CITY PROJECT NO. 5101 WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the improvement of streets in the 2005 Street Reconstruction Project, City Project No. 5101, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Contractor Base Bid + Alternates A & C Base Bid + Alternates B & C Engineer's Estimate $2,578,036.89 $2,548,844.39 Midwest Asphalt Corp. $2,331,421.38 $2,303,980.43 Doboszenski & Sons, Inc. $2,368,775.22 $2,367,257.21 Hardrives, Inc. $2,542,226.05 $2,568,499.30 C.S. McCrossen $2,890,048.15 $2,773,278.15 WHEREAS, the low bid is 10.6% lower than the Engineer's Estimate; and WHEREAS, it appears that Midwest Asphalt Corporation of Hopkins, MN is the lowest responsible bidder complying with the minimum specifications; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer recommends Alternate A due to the superiority of Limestone aggregate; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer recommends Alternate C as Carlson Companies has agreed to pay $78,073.57 to mill and overlay for Carlson Parkway, and WHEREAS, the City Engineer recommends awarding the project to Midwest Asphalt Corporation of Hopkins, MN; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into the contract for the Base Bid and Alternate Bids A & C with Midwest Asphalt Corporation of Hopkins, MN in the name of the City of Plymouth for the 2005 Street Reconstruction Project, City Project No. 5101, according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Engineer in the amount of $2,331,421.38. Resolution No. 2005-229 Page 2 FURTHERMORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the fiinding for this project shall be as follows: Street Reconstruction Fund $1,516,244.51 Special Assessments $1,150,387.04 Water Resources Fund $56,721.78 Adopted by the City Council on June 14, 2005.
