RESOLUTION 2005-051
APPROVING COMMENTS ON THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL'S 2030 WATER
RE,SO URCE,S MANAGEMENT POLICY PLAN
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Council has prepared a draft update to its Water Resources
Management Policy Plan, and
WHEREAS, regional forecasts call for almost one million additional residents in the
seven -county metropolitan area by the year 2030; and
WHEREAS, a high quality, efficient and cost-effective wastewater system is key to the
successful growth and development of our region; and
WHEREAS, promotion o f nonpoint source control efforts is important to minimize
pollution from runoff into rivers, lakes and streams; and
WHEREAS, the region needs a water supply sufficient to meet its needs, protected from
contamination and conserved by its users; and
WHEREAS, a comprehensive and well-rounded plan for regional water resources
requires the input of numerous stakeholders, including local governments ...
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it supports the attached comments
prepared by the City of Plymouth and the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities in
regard to the draft 2030 Water Resources Management Policy Plan and urges the
Metropolitan Council to make the requested changes to the draft plan before granting it
final approval.
