HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2005-046CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2005-046 USE OF PVC FOR WATERMAIN PIPES WHEREAS, the current in-place DIP watermain, which is presently the City standard for all new watermain installation, is not lasting to it's predicted life due to the corrosive soils in Plymouth; and WHEREAS, PVC is a proven watermain product which clearly meets the City's required strength characteristics while also providing longevity due to it's ability to resist corrosion; and WHEREAS, government regulations have forced PVC manufacturers to comply with strict operational procedures to eliminate associated health risks with the manufacturing of the PVC; and WHEREAS, the HRA has recommended the use of PVC watermain as it is less expensive than DIP which supports their quest to provide affordable housing in the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That PVC is an approved watermain material in the City and specifications for it will be included in the upcoming revised Engineering Guidelines to be completed by the Engineering Department. Adopted by the City Council on February 8, 2005.
