HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2006-511CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION No. 2006-511 APPROVING LUMP SUM BENEFIT FOR THE PLYMOUTH FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has requested the City authorize an increase in the lump sum pension benefit from $7,000 per year of service to $7,500 per year of service effective January 1, 2007; and WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota allows fire relief associations to increase their pension benefits to a set maximum; and WHEREAS, in 43 years as an association, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has never been a financial liability to the City of Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the City Council and City Staff agree the recommended change would be usefiil as an incentive tool for recruiting new firefighters and retaining existing firefighter; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED TBY THE CITY COUNIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH that the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing an increase in the lump sum pension benefit for the Plymouth Fire Relief Association to $7,500 per year of service effective January 1, 2007. Adopted by the City Council on December 12, 2006.
