RESOLUTION 2006-486
AUTHORIZING A CONCURRENT DETACHMENT AND ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
PROPERTY TO ADJUST THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH AND
THE CITY OF MAPLE GROVE (2006066)
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 414.061 authorizes property of a municipality which
abuts another municipality to be concurrently detached and annexed; and
WHEREAS, the planned and fiiture extension of a public roadway in the City of Maple Grove
will intersect with HCSAH No. 47 in the City of Plymouth; and
WHEREAS, the said intersection will create residue property totaling roughly 1.1 net acres in
area; and
WHEREAS, said roughly 1.1 acres would be occupied by future right-of-way and water quality
pond improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth desires that the City of Maple Grove be responsible for the
constriction and maintenance of said improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Plymouth and Maple Grove are both in favor of the detachment of said
property from the City of Plymouth and its concurrent annexation to the City of Maple Grove;
and
WHEREAS, Exhibit "A" attached hereto this resolution and hereby made a part hereof, shows
the existing municipal boundary between the Cities of Plymouth and Maple Grove; and
WHEREAS, Exhibits "B-1", "B-2" and "B-3" attached hereto this resolution and hereby made a
part hereof, identify the parcel to be detached and annexed; and

WHEREAS, Exhibit "C" attached hereto this resolution and hereby made a part hereof, depicts
the new proposed municipal boundary between the Cities of Plymouth and Maple Grove after the
boundary adjustment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plymouth deems it desirable and in the best interest
of the City to adjust the boundary between the City of Plymouth and the City of Maple Grove.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it desires to detach the area described in Exhibit "B"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City staff is authorized to request the Office of
Administrative Hearings — Municipal Boundary Adjustments to issue an order implementing the
detachment of the area described in Exhibit "B" and that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute any documents necessary to accomplish the concurrent detachment and
annexation proceedings.
