HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2006-099CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2006-099 APPROVING PROCEDURE FOR UPDATING THE SURFACE WATER SECTION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT PLAN WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Land Planning Act requires communities to review and update their comprehensive plans every 10 years; and WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan update is due December 31, 2008; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statue 10313.235 requires communities to update their Water Resources Management Plans (WRMP) within two years of the 2" a Generation Plans of each Watershed Management Organization (WMO) within the community; and WHEREAS, the next update is due in August 2006; and WHEREAS, several language and policy updates are required to remain in compliance with the 2" a Generation Plans of each WMO; and WHEREAS, programs such as Total Maximum Daily Loads and NPDES Phase II do not have established requirements at this time but will likely necessitate fi ture updates to the Comprehensive Plan and WRMP; and WHEREAS, the City staff recommends updating the Surface Water Section of the Comprehensive Plan and the WRMP concurrently at this time to remain in compliance with the requirements of the law; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that The City will update the WRMP concurrently with the Surface Water Section of the Comprehensive Plan. 2. In recognition of programs whose requirements have not been clearly established at this time and will likely necessitate a major update to the WRMP in the near fiiture, the WRMP will only be updated to meet the current requirements. Adopted by the City Council on February 28, 2006.
