HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2007-322CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2007-322 RES'OLUTIONAUTHORIZING THE PLYMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, HOMELAND SECURITY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVTVION (HSEM) WHEREAS, The City of Plymouth desires to start a Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program; and WHEREAS, research was done and a grant application was made to the State to cover all start-up costs of fiinding such a program; and WHEREAS, we were notified by the State of only a partial grant award for our proposal; and WHEREAS, staff believes we can fund the shortfall by working with the Red Cross and North Memorial on the training component and funding the rest of the costs within our current budget; if necessary, using part of this year's $5,000 allocation for sirens as we do not have a current need to replace or add a siren. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Police Department is authorized to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security Emergency Management Division (HSEM) to start a CERT Program. Adopted by the City Council on July 24, 2007.
