RESOLUTION NO. 2007-271
APPROVE ACQUISITION OF CISCO SYSTEMS
FOR IP TELEPHONY AND VOICE MAIL SYSTEM
WHEREAS, staff has identified that the current telephone and voicemail system rates the
highest risk of failure; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for immediate replacement of the telephone system is due
to significant down time due to failure of system, current system is outdated, and limited
replacement parts are available; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for immediate replacement of the voicemail system is due
to the manufacturer is out business, extremely high risk of failure with no recovery options,
and replacement parts aren't available; and
WHEREAS, seven top manufacturers of phone and voicemail systems were evaluated, and
based upon this evaluation, Cicso Systems would fit the City's needs; and
WHEREAS, the system would be purchased at a cost not to exceed $456,903, and would be
funded with $300,000 coming from the 2007 Capital Improvement Program, $50,234 from
the IT Operations Budget, $101,669 from the Central Stores fiend, $3,000 from the Facilities
Operations Budget, and $2,000 from other departmental operations budgets (headsets),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH that acquisition of Cisco Systems for IP Telephone for the
telephone and voice mail system at a cost not to exceed $456,903 is approved.
