HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2008-302CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2008-302 APPROVING RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 115A.552, Counties shall ensure that residents have an opportunity to recycle; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County Ordinance 13 establishes a sixteen (16%) percent source - separation goal for each City in Hennepin County to enable the County to meet its recycling goals; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County has adopted the funding assistance policy for source separated recyclables to distribute fiends to the cities for development and implementation of waste reduction and recycling programs; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County has set as a requirement that the City enter into a "Residential Recycling Grant Agreement" with the County; and WHEREAS, the City desires to receive these County fiends, WHEREAS, to be eligible to receive these County funds, Cities must meet the conditions set forth in the funding policy; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA that the City enter into the "Residential Recycling Grant Agreement" with Hennepin County and authorize the Mayor and City Manager to sign the agreement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as a condition to receiving these fiinds from Hennepin County, the City agrees to implement a waste reduction and recycling program as committed to by its submission of the 2008 Hennepin County recycling grant application and that the City will use such County funds for the limited purpose of implementing the City's waste reduction and recycling program and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the agreement with the Hennepin County Contract Compliance Officer.
