RESOLUTION NO. 2008-209
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND POLICE CHIEF
TO ENTER INTO A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE
CITY OF ST. PAUL REGARDING PUBLIC SAFETY
RELATED TO 2008 REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION
WHEREAS, the Republican National Convention will be held in St. Paul this year with
activities scattered around the metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul does not have enough personnel to cover all the public
safety needs they expect and has requested additional help to keep the event safe; and
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Police Department has the ability to provide 17 officers to
assist by aiding Bloomington with the Mobile Field Force, South Command; and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul and the Plymouth Police Department requires a signed
joint powers agreement between City of St. Paul and the City of Plymouth for the
utilization of our personnel,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH that the City Council authorizes the City Manager and the Police
Chief to enter into a joint powers agreement with the City of St. Paul to assist with the
Republican National Convention.
