CITY OF PLYMOUTH
RESOLUTION NO. 2023-228
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN UPDATED JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH AND THE HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
WHEREAS, the police department has a need to address violent crime and narcotics offenses;
and
WHEREAS, those needs were addressed in part by participating in the Northwest Metro
Drug Task Force, which dissolved in January 2023; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office operates the Violent Offenders Task Force
(VOTF); and
WHEREAS, the police department has requested acceptance to VOTF to assist in combatting
violent crime and narcotics offenses; and
WHERAS, the Hennepin County VOTF Board approved the acceptance of the City of
Plymouth to participate in the Violent Offenders Task Force.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that the police department be authorized to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with
the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office for participation in The Violent Offenders Task Force.
