COUNCIL MEETING Item: Truth -in -Taxation Hearing
1. ACTION REQUESTED:
The Plymouth City Council is requested to hold a Public Hearing on the City Manager's
Recommended 2009 Property Tax Levy and Budget.
2. BACKGROUND:
Minnesota State Statute requires cities to hold a Public Hearing to review the City Manager's
Recommended Property Tax Levy and Budgets. Staff will give an overview of the recommended
budget and property tax levy.
The 2009 budget was updated to reflect Council recommendations and levy limit adjustments as
discussed at the last study session on Tuesday, November 18. The following items were eliminated:
1) West Medicine Lake Building Maintenance
2) I-494 Commission Dues
3) Northwest Chamber of Commerce Dues
4) Motor fuel reductions
The City Council also indicated they may discuss further the Metro Cities Association Dues.
A complete public copy of the budget materials will be available for viewing at the meeting as well
as posted on the City website. Let us know if you need copies of the infonnation.
The Council has the option to continue the Public Hearing to December 8, 2008, if there is not
adequate time to complete discussion. The Council will be requested to adopt the 2009 Amendment
to the Approved in Concept Biennial Budget on December 9, 2008.
