SUBJECT: Capital Improvement Program Discussion
DATE: September 14, 2007 for City Council meeting on September 18, 2007
1. BACKGROUND: The City Council has held 2 study sessions to discuss the 2008/2009 City
Manager's Recommended Budget and the 2008 — 2012 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). On
September 11, 2007, the City Council approved the preliminary City Manager's Recommended
Budget.
This study session is being held to continue reviewing projects in the proposed CIP and to review
proposed utility rate increases. Materials needed for this discussion are included in the
budget/CIP binder. Council members will want to bring this document to the Study Session. If
the Council would like additional information related to the CIP, I would encourage them to
contact me.
2. NEXT STEPS: At the conclusion of the study session, staff will forward the proposed CIP to
the Planning Commission for a Public Hearing. After the Public Hearing, the CIP will be
brought forward to the City Council for final adoption.
