R ESOLUTION N O. 2023-077
R ESOLUTION A UTHORIZING AN E XPENDITURE FROM
THE DWI R ESOURCE P LANNING F UND FOR T ECHNOLOGY U PGRADE
WHEREAS, the police department is in need of replacing eight squad-based lighting controllers,
expansion modules, and radars; and
WHEREAS, squad lighting technology has changed in recent years to allow for safer and more
efficient lighting automations; and
WHEREAS, squad-based lighting is a fundamental need for the safe operation of squads when in
emergency use; and
WHEREAS, squad radar technology has changed in recent years to allow for quicker and more
efficient speed calculations; and
WHEREAS, the current equipment is outdated and does not allow automation of critical squad
lighting needs or problem free speed calculations; and
WHEREAS, the City has dedicated funds available in the DWI Resource Planning Fund, reserved for
these types of purchases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that the police department be authorized to utilize money from the DWI Resource Planning
Fund to purchase new squad-based lighting control units, expansion modules, and radars.
