COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Slavik, Councilmembers Hewitt, Stein, Black, Willis, and Bildsoe. ABSENT: Councilmember Murdock. STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Ahrens, Planner Doty, and City Clerk Engdahl. Lake Setback Ordinance Planner Doty stated the Council reviewed three planning applications in 2007 that neighboring property owners objected to because their lake views would be impacted by a new home. He discussed the report that staff prepared that outlined the City's current requirements regarding structure setbacks from lakes. In addition, the report also contained a survey of other communities with their practices, and if they have any requirements that regulate building construction to protect lake views from existing buildings. Following Council discussion, no action was taken on this item. Future Study Sessions The Council directed staff to schedule a joint meeting with Hennepin County Commissioners and staff to discuss the City's request for a signalized intersection at County Road 47 and Vicksburg Lane, and the County's request to turn back County Road 47 to the City. The Council requested staff to provide data regarding this intersection to determine if a stop light is warranted, and the capital investment to improve County Road 47 for the future development, and how to phase it in.
