R ESOLUTION N O. 2021-340
R ESOLUTION A PPROVING THE C HANGE O RDER AND F INAL P AYMENT FOR P HASE F IVE
N ORTHWEST G REENWAY E ARTHWORK P ROJECT (PR140005.191)
WHEREAS, in 2000, the City Council adopted the Northwest Greenway (NWG) Master Plan as
part of the City Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Phase Five project provided for the design and construction of the Peony
Lane South Trailhead; and
WHEREAS, this project was divided into two projects, earthwork and shelter building; and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 2019, Council approved the NWG Trailhead Master Plan and authorized
advertisement of bid for the earthwork portion of the project; and
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2019, Council awarded the NWG Earthwork project to Peterson
Companies with a bid of $1,153,064.32; and
WHEREAS, there were three change orders initiated on the project for a total of $56,542.95 as
follows; and
Soil Corrections $63,730.55
Deduction of Equipment -$13,624.80
Culvert Delay $ 6,437.20
WHEREAS, staff and consultants (Hagen, Christensen & McIlwain Architects and SRF Consulting)
are recommending approval of the change orders and final payment; and
WHEREAS, the Northwest Greenway project was authorized at $1,400,000 utilizing Park
Dedication Funds; and
WHEREAS, the overall project cost with construction costs, consultant fees, geotechnical
borings, administrative fees and change orders is $1,383,690.90, which is $16,309.10 under budget; and
WHEREAS, the final payment to Peterson Companies is $2,000.00, with cumulative payments,
including three change orders, totaling $1,200,269.53.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the City Council hereby approves the change order and final payment to Peterson
Companies for the Phase Five Northwest Greenway Earthwork Project (PR 140005.191).
APPROVED by the City Council on this 14th day of December, 2021.
