HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 11-08-2011 SpecialAdopted Minutes Special Council Meeting November 8, 2011 Mayor Slavik called a Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council to order at 8:37 p.m. in the Medicine Lake Room, 3400 Plymouth Boulevard, on November 8, 2011. COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Slavik, Councilmembers Bildsoe, Black, Willis, Stein, and Johnson. ABSENT: None. STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Ahrens, Park Director Evans, Human Resources Manager Kone, Fire Chief Kline, Police Chief Goldstein, Community Development Director Juetten, Public Works Director Cote, Finance Manager Bursheim, Accounting Supervisor Mastey, and City Clerk Engdahl. 2012 Budget 1 City Manager Ahrens highlighted the staff report which presented an option for the Council to reduce the 2012 maximum tax levy from 1 % to 0%. She explained the Council set a maximum tax levy of 1 % at the September 13 meeting, but has the options of keeping the levy at 1 % or reducing it. The Council will be adopting the final tax levy at the December 13 Council meeting. She spoke of proposed changes to various fiends in order to accomplish a 0% tax levy. The majority of the Council supported decreasing the tax levy to 0%, but noted that as City expenses increase, it will be necessary to make incremental increases to the tax levy in future years in order to maintain core services that residents expect.
