R ESOLUTION N O. 2021-028
R ESOLUTION A UTHORIZING A DVERTISEMENT OF B IDS AND Q UOTES
FOR F ACILITY I MPROVEMENTS AT THE P LYMOUTH I CE C ENTER (IC-160002)
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Ice Center Roof Replacement Project began in 2020 when the City
hired HjS Architects to inspect and prepare a cost analysis for replacement of the Plymouth Ice Center
(PIC) roofs; and
WHEREAS, roofs over Rinks A and B will be 23 years old, and Rink C roof will be 17 years old.
Each year staff is repairing more leaks throughout the entire roof system which has caused building
damage and mold growth; and
WHEREAS, staff and the consultant recommend that the main building (Rinks A & B) roof and
Rink C mechanical room roof systems be replaced as soon as possible with a new fully adhered ethylene
propylene diene monomer (EPDM) roof system; and
WHEREAS, the Rink C built-up roof (BUR) is in overall good condition for its age and is scheduled
for replacement in 2027; and
WHEREAS, the Blue Line meeting room space constructed as part of the main facility in 1997 has
seen significant water damage from the store front windows and needs to be replaced as soon as
possible to avoid further structural damage; and
WHEREAS, the overall project cost is estimated at $1,000,000 and is scheduled in the 2021
Capital Improvement Program. Funding for this project would come from City surplus funds and the
Plymouth Ice Center fund.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the advertisement of bids for the replacement of Rinks A and B roofs and Rink C
mechanical room roof and quotes for replacement of the Blue Line room storefront windows at the
Plymouth Ice Center are authorized.
